The Appellate Practice Committee of the ABA will sponsor a seminar and CLE for law students and young lawyers on effective appellate practice. The seminar will cover tips for effective appellate briefwriting, a mock oral argument and discussion of the 2011-12 term of the US Supreme Court. Speakers include Justices Newby and Timmons-Goodman of the NC Supreme Court and Lisa Kern Griffin of Duke Law School. Students can register for the seminar for $25, which also entitles them to student membership in the ABA. Seating is limited.
New Duke Law center will delve into science of criminal justice
The Center for Science and Justice, led by Professor Brandon Garrett, will apply legal and scientific research to reforming the criminal justice system.
The annual celebration of the Law School’s international students and scholars will be held Sept. 23 – 27.
