Join us for a pivotal discussion on "Familiarity Breeds Contempt or Deference? An Empirical Study of Appellate Judicial Panels" by Professor Yun-chien Chang, Jack G. Clarke Professor in East Asian Law, Cornell University, explore the impact of familiarity within a career judge system in Taiwan, by utilizing an extensive dataset of 84,335 decisions from Taiwanese appellate courts on civil cases. Professor Jonathan Petkun at Duke Law School will join as an expert commentator. This event will be moderated by Shitong Qiao, Ken Young-Gak Yun and Jinah Park Yun Research Scholar and Professor of Law, Duke University. Lunch will be provided on a first-come first-served basis.
