I'll Say What I Want: Hate Speech Policy and the First Amendment

February 22, 2016 • 12:30 PM • Law School 3041

Recent events at Duke and around the country have raised the question of hate speech policies on college campuses. Can universities impose hate speech regulation? Do students really have the right to say whatever they want, even if it's offensive? Join BLSA for a panel discussion with Professor Neil Siegel, Professor Stuart Benjamin, Professor Guy Charles, and Mike Schoenfeld, Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Relations at Duke University about the merits of hate crime policies from a constitutional and university perspective. Lunch will be provided. Sponsored by the Black Law Students Association. For more information, please contact Lauren Myers at lauren.myers@duke.edu.
