Insurrection and Disqualification: The Forgotten Fourteenth Amendment
September 28, 2022 • 12:30 PM • Law School 3043
Join Professor Mark Graber (University of Maryland Carey School of Law) for a discussion on his forthcoming book, The Forgotten Fourteenth Amendment, which explores the historical basis of the Fourteenth Amendment, with a particular focus on Sections 2-4. Prof. Graber's approach sheds some light on what Republicans in 1866 might say about contemporary problems, but also highlights the difficulties inherent in translating efforts to solve problems created by the aftermath of the Civil War into efforts to solve problems created by the aftermath of the Trump presidency. Lunch will be provided. Sponsored by the American Constitution Society, ACLU and DBA. For more information, please contact Paul Finkelstein at pf78@duke.edu.
