Chief Judge Debra Livingston of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit will discuss current issues in the area of evidence law with Director Paul Grimm of the Bolch Judicial Institute at Duke Law School. In a conversation moderated by Professors Brandon L. Garrett and Donald Beskind, who are both teaching evidence this fall, both judges will discuss upcoming changes to the rules of evidence, challenges posed by new technology, and judicial perspectives from the trial and appellate level. Judge Livingston was appointed and confirmed to the Second Circuit in 2007 and became chief judge in 2020. From December 2012 until his retirement in December 2022, Grimm served as a district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. The event is sponsored by the Wilson Center for Science and Justice and the Bolch Judicial Institute. For more information, please contact Stella Kreilkamp at stella.kreilkamp@duke.edu.
