From Peacebuilding to Government Collapse: Sebghatullah Jalali’s Journey in Afghanistan

February 14, 2022 • 12:30 PM • Law School 4047

Please join DIRP, APALSA, GPS, ILS, ACLU, HRLS, and MENALSA for an in-person conversation with Research Associate Sebghatullah Jalali (LLM'19) who recently joined the Duke Immigration Rights Clinic after being forced to leave his position with the US Institute of Peace in Afghanistan in order to protect his life. Jalali will be sharing about his journey; his experience using his Duke LLM; how he went from training professors as well as undergrad students in peacebuilding and conflict resolution in Kabul to living through the Afghan government collapse and finally coming to Duke. A grab-and-go lunch will be provided at the conclusion of the meeting. Please RSVP at https://bit.ly/dukelawjalali. For questions, please contact Kiki Shim at ks598@duke.edu.
