February 14, 2017 • 12:30 PM • Law School 4047
Following the Bataclan massacre in November 2015, France declared a state of emergency which has been extended three times and remains in place. Ramzi Kassem, Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Immigrant and Non-Citizen Rights Clinic, City University of New York, traveled to France last year at the request of French and international rights groups on a fact-finding mission to investigate the impact and efficacy of such indefinite security measures on combating terrorism and ensuring an open, democratic society. Lunch will be served. Co-sponsored by the Human Rights Clinic and Center for International and Comparative Law. To RSVP, or for more information, please contact Ali Prince at ali.prince@law.duke.edu.
