A talk by Robert Hahn of Oxford. He will discuss, "The Sharing Economy and the Ridesharing Revolution." Robert Hahn is a Professor and Director of Economics, Oxford Smith School, Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School In this seminar, Hahn will review attempts to estimate the economic welfare impacts from key sharing economy businesses, such as Airbnb and Uber. He will discuss a co-authored paper on estimating the benefits from ridesharing, and argue that the net benefits from the sharing economy are likely to be substantial. Finally, he will discuss some broader economic and political issues related to regulation of the sharing economy. Sponsored by Professor McCubbins.
