This virtual panel discussion, led by David Ichel ('78, T'75), will survey the intricacies of negotiating compensation, finality, and peace in complex cases. Panelists include the Hon. Robert M. Dow Jr. (N.D. Ill.), Hon. Dan A. Polster (N.D. Ohio), David Bernick (Kirkland), Sheila Birnbaum (Dechert), Paul J. Geller (Robbins Geller), Joe Rice (Motley Rice), and Chris Seeger (Seeger Weiss). We'll discuss topics like the goals of settlement; ethical considerations when negotiating settlement; timing; the role of the judge, special master(s), and mediator(s); information and analytics; the role of bankruptcy; and remand.
