Sixth annual Siegel Lecture to focus on informed consent

Carl Schneider, Chauncey Stillman Professor for Ethics, Morality, and the Practice of Law

Carl Schneider, Chauncey Stillman Professor for Ethics, Morality, and the Practice of Law and a professor of internal medicine at the University of Michigan, will deliver the sixth annual Rabbi Seymour Siegel Memorial Lecture in Medical and Legal Ethics on November 14 at 12:15 p.m. at Duke Law School. Professor Schneider’s talk, entitled “Informed Consent in Two Professions,” is free and open to the public. 

The Law School is located at the corner of Science Drive and Towerview Road on Duke’s West Campus. Parking is available at the Bryan Center.

Professor Schneider has written extensively in the areas of bioethics, professional ethics, professional education, family law, and constitutional law. His books include The Practice of Autonomy: Patients, Doctors, and Medical Decisions (Oxford University Press, 1998). 

The annual Siegel Lecture is sponsored by labor lawyer and Senior Lecturing Fellow Allen Siegel ’60 in memory of his brother, Rabbi Seymour Siegel, a noted scholar of ethics and theology who died in 1988.
