Proxy Link Builder

Use this resource to create links to Duke-licensed electronic resources that can be used from any location with an internet connection and a valid Duke NetID/password. This link builder will provide easy access to subscription-based resources like HeinOnline, JSTOR, or EBSCO. Embed these links in syllabi, link them from your course's Sakai Resource page, or include them in group handouts.

To build a proxy link:

  1. Search the e-journals listing/online catalog to locate the source in a database.
  2. Identify the permalink to the desired article/chapter/opinion/etc.
  3. Copy/paste it into the box below.

  1. Copy the resulting URL above. Test the link by opening in a new tab/window. Make the sure the link takes you to the document you want to use.

Lexis Advance, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law

  • To build links for LexisNexis resources, go to LexisNexis Link Builder. Options to copy a permanent link to a document or search results screen can also be found under Actions > Link to this page.
  • To build links for Westlaw resources, go to Westlaw Link Creator. The button labeled "Copy link" will also copy a permanent link to a document or search results screen.
  • Bloomberg Law resource links are stable, and can be copied/pasted from the browser address bar.

Open Access Sources

Remember, it is not necessary to build Duke proxy links for articles in SSRN, BePress, or other open access resources.
