Emma Allison

Emma Allison JD ’23 has joined Wilkes Atkinson & Joyner, LLC, as an associate in the firm’s Spartanburg office. She previously practiced in Austin, Texas, with a national firm. Her work focuses on professional negligence defense, business litigation, and insurance coverage litigation. She is admitted to practice in South Carolina and Texas.

Josephus Allmond JD '20 was named chief energy officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia — a new cabinet-level position in Gov. Abigail Spanberger's office to address rising energy costs, increase clean energy generation, and develop a statewide energy strategy. Josephus comes to state government from the Southern Center’s Charlottesville office, where he was a staff attorney.

Alex Dimock JD ’14 has joined Bracewell as a partner in the firm’s Dallas office, where he will help launch its real estate special situations practice focusing on distressed commercial real estate, commercial mortgage-backed securities, loan workouts and enforcement, and real estate restructuring nationwide. Alex brings extensive experience in real estate capital markets and complex litigation. 

Jeffrey Libson

Jeffrey Libson JD ’81 has been appointed to the board of trustees of Eastern University. A recently retired corporate attorney, he spent much of his career at Pepper Hamilton and later was a partner at Cooley LLP, where he was part of the global life sciences leadership team. He also has taught entrepreneurship at the Wharton School.

Justin Mogford JD '08 has joined Bridger Aerospace, a leading aerial firefighting company, as general counsel and corporate secretary. Previously Justin spent more than a decade at Bristow Group, where he served most recently as division general counsel, advanced air mobility and corporate governance and assistant corporate secretary.

Fred Qiu

David Moncure JD ’05 has joined Mullen Coughlin as a partner in its litigation practice group, based in Texas. He brings more than 20 years of experience advising multinational and Fortune 500 companies on data privacy, eDiscovery, cybersecurity, and information governance. He previously was a partner in the AI governance practice of a global consulting firm.

Fred Qiu JD ’15 has been promoted to partner at Sheppard Mullin in the firm’s Silicon Valley office. A member of the intellectual property practice group, he represents high-tech companies in patent litigation and strategic patent portfolio development, advising on matters including USPTO proceedings, technology transactions, and complex disputes across emerging technology sectors.

Joshua Stokes

Joshua Stokes JD ’00 has joined Sklar Kirsh LLP as a partner in its litigation practice in California. He represents companies, investors, and founders in complex commercial disputes, including fiduciary duty, fraud, antitrust, and trade secrets matters. He previously practiced at Berry Silberberg Stokes PC, Crowell & Moring LLP, and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.

Raul Valles Jr. JD ’98 has joined Berger Singerman in Tampa as a partner on the firm’s dispute resolution team. He represents clients in commercial litigation, employment law, business torts, and noncompete disputes, and has extensive trial and arbitration experience. He also is a Florida Supreme Court certified mediator and has served as a bar exam grader and community mentor.

John C. Yates JD ’81 has been named to the 12-member board of trustees of The Duke Endowment. A co-founding partner of Gunderson Dettmer’s Atlanta/Southeast office, he is a longtime leader in technology law. Yates also serves on the Duke Law School Board of Visitors and on several nonprofit and civic boards in Atlanta.
