CLRP Hosts AI and Marginalized Groups Panel

On October 26, 2023, the Duke Law Center on Law, Race & Policy hosted a panel discussion on the impact of the generative artificial intelligence (AI) on marginalized groups.
Individuals across disciplines are speculating about the potential benefits and costs of generative AI. This type of speculation becomes particularly pressing when the interests of already vulnerable populations are implicated. An expert panel discussed the implications of applying generative AI in various contexts on marginalized groups.
Panelists included April Dawson, Associate Dean of Technology & Innovation and Professor of Law, North Carolina Central University; Jessica Eaglin (L'08), Professor of Law, Cornell Law School; Margaret Hu (L'00), Taylor Reveley Research Professor and Professor of Law, William & Mary Law School; and Sonia Gipson Rankin, Professor of Law, The University of New Mexico School of Law.
The Duke Law chapters of Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and Latin American Law Students Association (LALSA) co-sponsored the event.
