CLRP hosts Scholarship Mash-Up Retreat
On May 20, 2025, the Duke Law Center on Law, Race & Policy hosted its end-of-year CLRP Scholarship Mash-Up Retreat. Over the past year, CLRP held monthly mash-up luncheon meetings for all Duke University faculty whose research seeks to advance racial equity. These interdisciplinary gatherings have been a medium through which faculty could test their ideas with each other, share insights, secure feedback, and form meaningful relationships. At each meeting, a Duke faculty member presented and sought input on a current project. These meetings not only enriched our shared scholarship but also built community among university faculty with overlapping research interests.
The CLRP Scholarship Mash-Up Retreat, therefore, culminated the year’s series. During the Retreat, faculty provided critical feedback; discussed how to advance our faculty’s scholarly work in a meaningful way; and addressed promoting faculty wellness (including prioritizing mental and physical health), self-care, and community in order to enhance faculty productivity. Faculty members from throughout the different university units attended the Retreat and engaged in robust discussion. A reception followed. A great community-building and bonding time was had!
