CLRP hosts September Scholarship Mash-Up featuring Professor Mark Anthony Neal
On September 26, 2024, the Duke Law Center on Law Race & Policy (CLRP) hosted its monthly CLRP Scholarship Mash-Up, featuring Professor Mark Anthony Neal, James B. Duke Distinguished Professor of African and African American Studies and Chair of the African & African American Studies Department.
During the Mash-up, Dr. Neal presented his book chapter: “The Damaging Myths of the Idealized Black Father,” from his forthcoming book Save A Seat for Me!
The Mash-ups are monthly luncheon meetings for Duke University faculty whose research seeks to advance racial equity. These interdisciplinary gatherings are intended to be a medium through which faculty can test their ideas with each other, share insights, secure feedback, and form meaningful relationships.
At each meeting, a faculty member presents, and seeks input on, a current project. These meetings aim not only to enrich our shared scholarship but also to build community among university faculty with overlapping research interests and lead to future collaborations. Additional Mash-ups are scheduled for October, and November 2024 and January, February, and March 2025. The year-long series of lunches will culminate with a scholarly retreat for participants.
