Peking University Law Dean delivers Berstein Lecture

Professor Suli Zhu, dean of Peking University School of Law, will deliver the fifth annual Herbert L. Bernstein Lecture in International and Comparative Law on Nov. 2. His topic will be political parties and the judicial system in China.
A faculty member since 1992 and dean since 2001, Professor Zhu is an expert in the fields of jurisprudence and legal theory and has written extensively on the rule of law in China. He is the author, among many publications, of Sending Law to the Countryside: Research on China’s Basic-level Judicial System.
Professor Zhu received his LL.B. from Peking University, an LL.M. in American business and taxation law from McGeorge School of Law, and a Ph.D. in justice and cross-disciplinary studies from Arizona State University.
The event will begin at 12:00 p.m. in room 3041 at Duke Law School, located at the corner of Towerview Road and Science Drive on Duke’s West Campus. It is free and open to the public. A live webcast of Professor Zhu’s talk will be available at http://www.law.duke.edu/webcast/.
The Herbert L. Bernstein Memorial Lecture in International and Comparative Law honors the many contributions to Duke Law School and to the legal community made by the late Professor Bernstein, a faculty member for 17 years and a noted specialist in contract, comparative, and private international law.
