Steven Shavell, Professor of Law and Economics at Harvard Law School to speak at Duke Law School about Fairness versus Welfare Nov. 20.

The Duke Economics Department and Duke Law School will host Steven Shavell, Harvard Law Professor, and one of the parents and leading figures of the modern law and economics school of thought to discuss Fairness versus Welfare. Shavell is speaking at Duke as part of its annual Allen Starling Johnson, Jr. Fund Distinguished Lecture. His recent work has focused on developing an economic understanding of the proper role of fairness and morality in law and policy.
