Anne D. Gordon, clinical professor of law and director of externships, is studying experiential legal education in Spain on a Fulbright fellowship.

Through an affiliation with the Universidad de Alcalá (UAH) Madrid, Gordon will spend the fall semester researching how Spain's robust experiential education requirements create practice-ready public interest attorneys. She is also scheduled to give the keynote address at Spain's national clinical conference in November.

Gordon is one of four Duke University faculty members selected for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program this year. More than 800 individuals teach or conduct research abroad annually through the program, which currently extends to more than 135 countries.

Previous Fulbright recipients from Duke Law include Deborah A. DeMott, the David F. Cavers Distinguished Professor of Law, and the late William W. Van Alstyne, who served on the faculty for nearly 40 years.

Since 1946, the Fulbright Program has given more than 400,000 students, scholars, teachers, artists, and professionals of all backgrounds the opportunity to study, teach, and conduct research abroad. Alumni include 62 Nobel Laureates, 89 Pulitzer Prize winners, 80 MacArthur Fellows, 41 heads of state or government, and thousands of leaders from the private, public, and non-profit sectors.
