Double subscription on class email lists
All students were subscribed under two addresses to each class email list. This was done to address a problem that comes up every semester: students want to send messages to the list using a different email address than the one subscribed.
If you are receiving two copies and find it irritating or confusing, you can unsubscribe one of your addresses. We describe how to do so below.
New students were subscribed under their Duke Email Alias and their NetID email accounts. The former is usually in the format FirstName.LastName@Duke.edu, and the latter YourNetID@duke.edu.
Returning students were subscribed under their Duke Email Alias and their Law email address. The former is usually in the format FirstName.LastName@Duke.edu, and the latter usually mirrors it in the format FirstName.LastName@law.duke.edu .

Steps to unsubscribe one address
- Decide which address you want to unsubscribe. You may want to use your email client and send an email to yourself to see what is in the From: address to decide which address to keep.
- Go to: http://www.law.duke.edu/curriculum/schedule and click on the link to go to your class email list instructions.
- Follow the link on that page to the Mailman page for your list. At the bottom of that web page, where you see "To unsubscribe..." enter the email address that you wish to unsubscribe from the list and click on "Submit."
- On the resulting page, click on the "Unsubscribe" button.
- Go to your email account. In a few minutes, you will receive an email message from the Mailman server. There will be a link there to finish unsubscribing. Click on the link to go to the web page that has one final "Unsubscribe" button. Click on it.
- You're done!
