Alumni in the news for promotions, awards, and honors

Bill Brady JD ’07 has joined Holland & Knight as partner in the firm's Litigation Practice Group in Boston. Most recently, Bill served for six years as an assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Massachusetts, prosecuting white collar cases as a member of the Health Care Fraud Unit. Prior to that, he was a partner with Goodwin Procter. Bill focuses his practice on healthcare fraud and government investigations, complex litigation matters, cybersecurity and corporate governance disputes.
Brandon Figg JD ’14 has joined Morgan Lewis as a partner in its structured transactions practice in Washington, D.C., where he will advise financial institutions, issuers, arrangers, and underwriters on asset-backed securities, collateralized loan obligations, and other financing transactions. Brandon most recently served as senior special counsel for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Division of Corporation Finance, special counsel in the Office of Structured Finance and as an attorney advisor in the SEC’s Division of Trading and Markets. Prior to his service at the SEC, Brandon spent more than seven years as a structured finance transactions lawyer.
Brian King JD '00 announced he will retire in June 2026 as the ninth Chancellor of the Los Rios Community College District, a position he has held since 2012. Los Rios is the second-largest community college district in California, serving the greater Sacramento region, with four colleges, six education centers, and specialized workforce and economic development programs for local businesses, governments, and organizations. Brian has more than three decades of community college teaching and administrative experience in California and Missouri. He received his doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Arkansas.

Linda Martin JD ’96 has joined Baker Botts as a partner in its global litigation practice in New York. Linda brings extensive experience in resolving complex, strategic, and cross-border commercial disputes, handling high-stakes litigation, arbitration, and mediation across a wide range of industries and practice areas. She was formerly co-head of the U.S. commercial litigation practice for Freshfields, and co-head of its global class and collective actions group.
Kishanthi Parella JD ‘08 has been awarded the James P. Morefield Professorship at Washington and Lee University School of Law. Kish is an expert on business and human rights and an international research fellow for Oxford University’s Centre for Corporate Reputation. She serves on the executive council of the American Society of International Law and is a Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute. Kish joined the W&L Law faculty in 2013 and teaches seminars on corporate social responsibility as well as courses on torts, contracts, business associations, international business law and global compliance. Prior to entering academia she practiced international arbitration and litigation.

Daniel Rice JD ’15 has joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law as an assistant professor of law. Daniel is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and will teach Federal Indian Law and First Amendment this fall and Constitutional Law next spring.
Prior to joining UNC’s faculty, he taught at the University of Arkansas School of Law and worked as a public interest lawyer at the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection at the Georgetown University Law Center.
Richard Scott JD ’77 has been appointed chief commercial officer of UK-based Clean Power Hydrogen, effective July 1.
Richard has more than 30 years of experience in the energy sector and has expertise in commercial management, business, and market development, with a particular focus on the global green fuels market.
Most recently he was executive vice president at ACME Greentech Group India and vice president of global market development at World Kinect Corporation.
