Professor Michael Tigar honored by the Office of the Appellate Defender
Sept. 30 — Professor Michael Tigar will be honored by the Office of the Appellate Defender with its Gould Award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy on Oct. 6. The award will be presented at OAD’s annual “First Monday in October” fundraiser at New York University School of Law. Tigar also will act as counsel for the respondent in a mock Supreme Court argument of Van de Kamp v. Goldstein, a case concerning prosecutorial liability for wrongful convictions obtained through the suppression of exculpatory evidence. The case is on the high court’s docket for the coming term. Tigar will argue against his co-recipient of the Gould Award, Samuel Seymour of Sullivan Cromwell.
