Lange Lecture 2017 | William W. Fisher, The Legal Treatment of Traditional Knowledge
William W. Fisher, the WilmerHale Professor of Intellectual Property Law and Faculty Director of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School, delivered the annual David L. Lange Lecture in Intellectual Property Law (formerly named the Meredith and Kip Frey Lecture in Intellectual Property Law). Professor Fisher is the author of four books, including Promises to Keep: Technology, Law and the Future of Entertainment (Stanford University Press 2004), as well as numerous other publications on intellectual property law and American legal history. He received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and J.D. and Ph.D. from Harvard University before serving as a law clerk to Judge Harry T. Edwards of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and then to Justice Thurgood Marshall of the United States Supreme Court. He has taught at Harvard Law School since 1984.
