National Popular Vote: Time to Get Rid of the Electoral College?

Professor Emeritus John Baker (LSU Law) joins the Federalist Society to debate Mr. Pat Rosenstiel, National Popular Vote Spokesman about the idea of a national popular vote for President. Although the idea received a little traction during the election, there is actually a strong national movement to do just that. Eight states and D.C. have enacted legislation to award their electoral votes to the candidate receiving the most ballots cast across the nation. This legislation will take effect if states possessing a majority of the electoral votes enact the same.
