Summer Resume Collect Program
Duke Law CPDC offers two programs over the summer for private sector recruitment of rising 2Ls and rising 3Ls: Summer OCI (“OCI”) and Summer Resume Collects.
Employer registration for 2025 Resume Collects will open at 12 noon ET on December 6, 2024. Dates and details below are subject to change prior to that date. If you have questions about policies or participation, please contact Erin Biggerstaff.
Recruiting Policies
Please review our Recruiting Policies & Guidelines before registering for the Summer Resume Collect Program.
Employers recruiting at Duke Law should review Duke University's full Non-Discrimination Policy and check the section in your registration request labeled "Duke University School of Law Non-Discriminatory Policy" to affirm your organization's compliance.
Grading of Academic Performance: Duke Law School does not release class rank and uses a slightly modified form of the familiar 4.0 scale. For more information, please review Duke Law School’s full Grading Policy.
General Information for the Summer Resume Collect Program
Participation in Both the Summer Resume Collect Program and OCI:
Some employers may choose to participate in both OCI and the Summer Resume Collect Program if they have some offices not participating in OCI, or if they have additional needs later in the summer for offices that participated in OCI.
Resume Collect Options (Accumulate Online / Direct Send):
Employers may set up postings to receive applications in one packet via Symplicity on the session deadline (“accumulate online”), or may opt to have students apply directly on a rolling basis via email or the employer website (“direct send”).
Application Limit:
There is no limit to the number of Summer Resume Collects Duke Law students may apply to.
Scheduling Interviews from Resume Collects:
Employers should reach out directly to Summer Resume Collect applicants to schedule screening interviews via their preferred method and at a mutually convenient time. Please attempt to find times that minimize conflict with student’s 1L summer work schedule. Duke Law CPDC does not coordinate interview scheduling or hosting for Summer Resume Collects.
Summer 2025 Resume Collect Sessions / Choosing the Appropriate Session:
The following Resume Collect session dates are available for summer 2025. Offices should choose the session which most closely aligns with their preferred for conducting interviews. For example, if an office plans to start conducting interviews in early-mid July, the best session for that office would be the July 2 session. Unless posting separately for different practice groups, offices should initially post under only one Summer Resume Collect Session. After the session application deadline, you will be sent an email reminder and given the option to re-post the opportunity under a later session if the office would like to receive additional applications. Spring semester grades are expected to be available by June 4, 2025.
- June 4 (student deadline 12pm ET – employer packets available by 1pm ET)
- June 4 IP ONLY (student deadline 12pm ET – employer packets available by 1pm ET)
- June 18 (student deadline 12pm ET – employer packets available by 1pm ET)
- July 2 (student deadline 12pm ET – employer packets available by 1pm ET)
- July 16 (student deadline 12pm ET – employer packets available by 1pm ET)
Registering for the Summer Resume Collect Program
Employer registration for summer 2025 sessions opens via Symplicity at 12 noon ET on December 6, 2024. To register for a Summer Resume Collect, please follow these steps:
- Login to Duke Law Symplicity and navigate to the “OCI” section.
- Select “Schedule Request” and click the “Request a Schedule” button.
- If possible, make sure the “registering office” is an office participating in this resume collect posting.
- Under the “Recruiting Session” dropdown menu, select the preferred Summer Resume Collect session. The request page should refresh with new fields to fill out.
- Choose Accumulate Online or Direct Send:
- To set up an “accumulate online” posting (and have students apply via Symplicity – you will receive one application packet via Symplicity on the session deadline date but will not be able to review applicants before that date), select “no” under the “Direct Send” section.
- To set up a “direct send” posting (and have students apply directly to you on a rolling basis via email or your firm website) select “yes” under the “Direct Send” section. If you select “yes” here, a text box will pop up where you can provide application information (this box may automatically populate with your email and phone, but you may edit it to reflect an application URL instead).
- If the posting is for more than one office, please click “yes” under “Include Related Offices” and then check the box next to each office you would like to have included. If the additional office(s) do not populate, you may use the “additional locations” box to indicate these offices. You may also use the “additional locations” box to indicate the office which the resume collect is for if you were unable to select an appropriate office as the “registering” office in step 3 (note that in this case, please let us know if the “registering office” should NOT be included in the posting).
- Fill out the remaining information requested, check the “policy affirmation” box, then click “submit.”
Additional 2025 Recruitment Opportunities:
- Summer OCI (Private Sector - Virtual Interviews): Our Summer OCI is scheduled through a lottery process and is designed to provide an efficient interview process for employers and offices hiring rising 2Ls and rising 3Ls, with CPDC-hosted virtual interviews running from May 19 – 22, 2025.
- Government & Public Interest OCI (GPI OCI): Government & Public Interest employers may interview students through this program during the fall and spring semesters. There is no fee to participate.
- Posting via the Jobs Tab in Symplicity: Private sector employers preferring a later hiring timeline for 2Ls and 3Ls may post positions via the jobs Tab in Symplicity. Government & Public Interest employers may post positions via the jobs tab year-round.
